Goodbye April

Kidlets, it’s the last day of April. Can you believe it? Time flies when you’re having fun! Anyway, today is a great day to cuddle and read with someone.  I’m reading a comic book to Levi. You know you can read more than just books. Magazines, newspapers, cereal boxes! The world of words is endless! And now random joke:

What do you call a snowman ⛄ in the desert?

A puddle!

Don’t forget to laugh, kids!

Wednesday

Hey kidlets.  We made it to another Wednesday!  Hooray!  Today, I feel like playing a game.  Carter introduced me to this game called “Concentration 64.”  It’s a game you can play with 2 or more people.  You sing the song (lyrics below) and you chose a category (food, animals, sports, etc.) and see how far you get before someone stumbles.  It is a really great game to play that builds vocabulary, practices memory skills, and is just plain fun!  Try it out and send me a video!

Concentration (clap, clap, clap)
Sixty-four (clap, clap, clap)
No repeats (clap, clap, clap)
Or hesitations (clap, clap, clap)
I’ll go first (clap, clap, clap)
You’ll go last (clap, clap, clap)
Category is: (clap, clap, clap)
<Choose a category, i.e. “Animals”> (clap, clap, clap)
<Player 1’s word, i.e. “Dog” > (clap, clap, clap)
<Player 2’s word, i.e. “Crocodile”> (clap, clap, clap)

Mrs. Steele and I tried to play together via Zoom.  Check it out!

TTT 4/28

Hey kidlets! Another Tongue Twister Tuesday is here! This week’s is extremely tough. I don’t think any of us were 100% successful. How about you? Can you say:

Eleven Benevolent Elephants  3 times fast.

It is a great challenge. Let us know how you did!

Don’t forget to laugh, kids!

Monday 4-27

Greetings, kidlets!  Another Monday is here!  Did you know that the CDC says kids should have 60 minutes of physical activity a day?  How are you getting your physical activity in? Mrs. Steele and Madi are constantly keeping active.  They like to work out in their barn/gym.  Madi added on to her obstacle course.  As you know, I’m a big fan of bustin’ a move with GoNoodle.  Carter likes to run, jump, throw the football, etc. What do you like to do? Next time you’re playing, try skip counting by 2, 5, 10 while jumping or doing push ups. If that’s easy try do skip counting by 3, 6, or 7!

4-24

Another Friday is here! Mrs. Steele wanted to read y’all her one of her favorite books.  What’s your favorite book? What makes it special to you? Have a conversation with your family about your favorite book!

April 23

Hey kidlets!  Another day is here.  I hope you all are keeping your minds active with reading lots of books.  I have been listening to books on Audible.  Right now, it’s free with hundreds of books to listen to.  Listening to someone else read is helpful because it helps you learn how to say the words and the speed to say them. Have you ever heard yourself read?  Have someone video you reading and see what you notice. Do you read like a robot?  Blazer Fresh reminds us here that reading with expression is way better than reading like a robot.  Dance along to their groove and don’t read like a robot!

Don’t forget to laugh, kids!

Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day, kidlets!  I hope all of you will join us in taking action on Earth Day this year.  What is Earth Day and what can you do?  Well, check this out for more information about Earth Day and peep this article for ideas of what you can do!   Mrs. Steele and Madi picked up litter in their neighborhood.  I’m replacing some old light bulbs with energy efficient ones.  What are you going to do?  Let me know what you did!

April 20th

Monday, Monday, Monday. Make it Monday! This week make healthy choices! Mrs. Steele’s daughter Madi made a healthy snack using fruit. Then Madi and Mr. Jim got a good work out in! It’s fun to exercise with your family. I practiced some meditation and had a healthy lunch of homemade beef vegetable soup 🍲 What healthy choice will you make today? Let me know! Don’t forget to laugh, kids!

April 16

Hello kidlets! It’s Thursday! Back when I was in 3rd grade, my brother and I would do Mad Libs. Mad Libs are pre-written stories with blanks for you to fill in. Most of the time, the stories are pretty funny. Carter, my mom, and I found one to do for you. Check it out below and check out this site to have some Mad Lib fun with your family!
